Title sequence analysis

Gravity
The title sequence of gravity is a metaphor for the rest of the movie. This is because the word gravity is all alone in the dark background just like in the movie where the characters are all alone in the darkness of space. The title sequence is the word gravity in white writing with a black background.

Skyfall
The title for Skyfall comes up during the opening credits sequence for the movie. It's when Bond it's falling through looks like a hole in the sea floor but also due to the colour of the floor it looks like the sky, this could be a metaphor for Bond falling through the sky as the title of the movie implies.

Title sequence analysis

1989 Batman

As the sequence begins, we see the movie producers and some of the cast. As this is happening, we see a dark place which the camera is panning around in long smooth motions. This makes the audience wonder if its the iconic bat cave or Gothem city. We are then confronted wth bold yellow text giving us the two colours of batman symbol black and yellow. It then pans out whilst continuing to display the yellow writing showing the batman symbol and finally showing the director upon the batman logo.

Star wars IV: A New Hope

The sequence begins with the producing company and continues on to Clearly state the title of the film. The title in in bold yellow text making it clear to the audience and giving contrast to the black background with stars, By using this background they make the audience wonder if the movie is going to be set in space or not. Following this, there is a large paragraph or text which is scrolling up the screen allowing the audience to read it and get information about the film before it begins.

Callums analysis of titles

Casino Royale
The title sequence in Casino Royale is classic bond - a dramatic soundtrack with a matching animation playing in the background while institutional information fades on in luxurious font. In doing so anticipation is built and a additional meaning of intensity, romance, gambling etc. is conveyed. The institutional information includes production companies such as Albert R. Broccoli's EON Productions ltd., a total of FIFTY EIGHT names coming under actors, musicians etc. All of this information lasts on the screen for no more than 2 seconds to coincide with the dramatic animation.

Fast and Furious 7
The epic title sequence in Fast and Furious 7 is action packed and the titles follow that. Backed by an intense scene and sound track, the appearance of the titles is most effective, flying onto the screen and in the trademark epic font the Fast and Furious franchise are known for. It shows mainly actors such as Vin Diesel, musicians, producers etc. An additional meaning of shocking intensity is given through going from a relaxed scene to an astonishing intense scene matched by the titles shows the audience what they're in for.

Audience feedback

Once we have completely finished our filming, we are going to show the unedited clips to fellow media students and film students and act what they think. We will do this to improve our footage and see if anything needs to be changed. We will also show them our storyboard and how we plan to edit the shots . This is to see if our goal of creating enigma is achieved and if it sounds interesting or, if anything should be done another way .

Availibility to film

Availability to film

With filming some scenes, we need certain weather so that we don't break continuity. This means we are unable to film some days as it is too sunny or gloomy. We are trying to film as much as possible however, we all work meaning possible filming time is lowered and we also need to get our actors out of the group to be able to film meaning a lot of planning is needed before we go and film.

We also need to consider what the weather was like the day before as the ground in the wooded area could still be wet meaning we could drop the equipment or slip and hurt ourselves.

Changing our Storyboard

Changing our Storyboard

When we first began planning our opening, we planned to have a scene within a hospital where our protagonist first came out of a coma. However we were unable to gain access to a hospital this meant that we had to go back to the drawing board and come up with a new idea for this scene. We came to the conclusion to use a woodland area to make it seem like the character was left there by someone and we plan to have the same idea of waking up from being knocked out for a long period of time. We also planned to have a heartbeat monitor bleeping to start flashbacks, however because of the scene change we are going to use a heartbeat instead.

Evidence of filming

Sorting out clips

Here is us organising our clips into categories of what we want/don't want (i.e. car chase, rubbish, mask scene etc.). We did this to avoid confusion when it came to editing subsequently improving our productivity because we wouldn't be wasting time looking for a clip from the list in the first picture.

Problems on set while filming

During filming of certain scenes we ran into a number of problems. One of the main problems was with the use of prop guns.

Because the prop guns we were using for the death scene were completely blacked out this could have lead to the confusion that we had real weapons. This was obviously a massive problem as we didn't want to have the police being called so we had to print of signs which we would place around the scene out of shot where we were filming.

While shooting the car chase scene we ran into some problems with the people living around the area where we were filming. One lady came up to us and nicely asked us to leave due to the fact that she thought we were being too loud and that we were going to get in the way of other cars so we then had to leave and we were not able to film the rest of the car scene without that setting. This meant we had to change the car chase scene so the setting is not shown as much. We had chosen that location to film the car chase scene as it was a dead end and had great positions to set up my tripod.

Even though there were good places to set the tripod we chose to us the tripod as a camera stabiliser because it made a slight sake to the footage causing the scene to be more tense and created the illusion that the cars were goings faster than they were.
